In 2019 two local businesses decided to bring their products together for a delicious and festive collaboration – from Almonte’s Dairy Distillery and Fulton’s Maple Sugarbush in Pakenham…Vodkow’s Maple Cream Liqueur was born. It was delicious and instantly attracted fans for the quality of the product as well as the feel-good community story.
Then the COVID-19 outbreak came in March 2020. Fulton’s did everything we could to pivot in the moment but sadly – and for the first time in over 50 years – we had to shut down our pancake house during sap season. The people at Dairy Distillery had to pivot too – for an opportunity to help others during the crisis. In those early pandemic days, they adapted their operations to produce hand sanitizer for locals in need. We were so proud of them!
Unexpectedly late March – Dairy Distillery reached out to our team and offered to share their proceeds from the Maple Cream sales with us. They understood how hard Maple Sugar producers had been hit by the new social guidelines and they simply wanted to help their friends out. Wow! We were very touched by that offer…giving a resounding new meaning to #weareallinittogether.
Our team was so impressed with this act of kindness we decided to pay it forward too. Fulton’s took the proceeds given to them and order pies from The English Pie Shop (local business, owned by a 6th Generation Fulton) to be given to front-line workers at various Almonte care facilities. Because so much good is possible when businesses collaborate together.
Here we are almost a year later and Dairy Distillery is settling into their “new normal” just like the rest of us. This Holiday Season they unveiled a “Friendship Series” that includes delicious cream collaborations with our friends at Equator Coffee and Hummingbird Chocolate. We are so proud to be associated with this series and we hope you get the opportunity to taste the quality that comes from community collaboration in Almonte.
