Shirley’s Scribbles – November 2022

What a Fall we’ve had! Sunny, bright, warm, so colourful, and oh my – those sunsets!

One of my favourite holidays, Halloween, was extra special this year with my Great Granddaughter trick or treating!

Scott and boys have been cutting and clearing maples from our Sugar Bush since the Derecho in May.  What a huge job this has been and the work continues!  An area near our Green Trail was hardest hit. We lost approximately 150 trees in one area.  If you’re a repeat trail walker, you might not recognize the Green Trail!

The next job is the removal of the broken, buried, and stretched pipeline and to restring new pipelines.  Next step is to mill the logs into lumber and coins.  Keep watching for the cool stuff that these beautiful maples will be transformed into. Grandson Tyson is already creating beautiful charcuterie boards.

Our Santa Workshop is busy preparing products and creating beautiful Christmas gift ideas.  “The 12 Days of a Maple Christmas” is underway on Facebook and Instagram. Two delicious gift baskets brimming with sweet maple will be won.  Be sure to join in the fun!

Join us at The 1840 General Store in Pakenham for the first ever Pakenham Holiday Hop on Saturday, November 26th!  We’d love to talk (and sample!) all things maple and get you well stocked for the sweetest Christmas ever. Stop by and say hello!  Be sure to visit all the other grand businesses in Pakenham and surrounding area that will be participating in this holiday event.

The Cedar Hill Christmas Tree Farm (less than 10 minutes from Fulton’s) is now open 7 days a week until December 24th and they are fully stocked with Fulton’s maple products.  Check out their amazing handmade wreaths, outdoor décor and gift ideas. It’s a one stop shop!

Pumpkin Pie with Maple

Our neighbours to the south will be gearing up for the American Thanksgiving and that is reason enough for us to celebrate once again with one of our favourite pies – pumpkin – this time with granulated maple sugar as a key ingredient. Check out this link from our friends at Foodland Ontario.
